Arnezha Astwood and his University of Nebraska Omaha Menís Soccer teammates came up short 1-0 in a 90-minute battle to the Missouri State Bears, ending their NCAA Tournament run and closing out their 2023 season.
In the opening minute of the game, Missouri State pressured Nebraska Omaha. The first action of the game was a corner kick by Missouri State, but nothing came of it.
In the 18th minute, Missouri State were awarded a corner kick, which resulted in a goal, giving them a 1-0 lead.
Coming off the kickoff, Nebraska Omaha got the ball into the offensive zone. Mathis Pilon St-Louis got the first shot of the night, but it went out right. Thore Boehm got an additional shot but it went out high of the net.
At the half, Missouri State led shots 3-2 and led 1-0.
Coming into the second, down a goal and looking to equalize, Nebraska Omaha came out and put pressure on Missouri State. Maruki Kawahara got the first shot on goal that was saved in the bottom right corner.
After a corner kick, Martin Lago got a shot which was reviewed as a potential goal, but after further review it was waved off, keeping Nebraska Omaha behind 1-0.
After sub in Cillian Heaney, the fresh set of legs, made a run up the field, getting a shot off but it went out left.
On the final corner kick of the game, Theo Klein made on last attempt but it was no good.
After a full 90-minute battle, Omaha fell short 1-0 to Missouri State.
