Hall & Hull City Fall to Wigan

IslandStats.com
Despite Sincere Hall’s teammates Bora Aydınlık, Rocco Coyle and Jim Simms netting for 10-man Hull City after Kyle Fanning’s dismissal, Wigan left the Dransfield Stadium with all three points in the U21 Professional Development League.

Hull City had the first opportunities of the game as Coyle’s direct corner delivery smashed off the crossbar early on before great play by Simms saw Hall break through on goal, but a great recovery challenge by Trialist A denied the Bermuda international.

Both teams continued to push for the opener as Nathan Tinsdale fired his finish over the bar while Trialist C for Wigan saw his shot blocked by Fanning. Another good team move saw Chibanga and Aydınlık link up in the right wing, with the latter playing the ball across for Simms. The striker in-turn teed up Hall, but Watson was sharp off his line to save.

Wigan broke the deadlock on the 29th minute as a cross from the left fell to McMillan to fire home from close range.

City equalised just five minutes later as a brilliant threaded through ball released Aydınlık on goal, and the Turkish youth international rifled his finish into the top left corner. Two minutes later and the Tigers were in-front as Coyle’s curled corner delivery went through a crowd of bodies to find the inside netting.

Wigan would find an equaliser two minutes from half-time as Harry McHugh placed his stunning strike from range into the top corner.

In the second half, Simms headed wide while Trialist D fired wide on the turn for Wigan. Chris Sze then hit the side netting with his attempt before the Tigers were reduced to 10-men after Fanning was shown a straight red card for his challenge. From the resulting free-kick, the visitors beat the offside trap as McMillan netted his second of the game,

Coyle searched for an equaliser with his free-kick, which hit the defensive wall, while Trialist D hit the bar after meeting Dylan Dwyer’s cross. Chibanga then saw his powerful strike charged down by the visiting defence before Aydınlık saw his drive go narrowly wide.

In the latter stages of the game, McHugh blazed over from close range before Wigan netted a fourth when Sze finished from close range, despite the best efforts from an onrushing Foster.

The City produced a brilliant one-handed save to deny substitute Youseff Chentouf at his near post before McHugh drilled a low left-footed drive wide of the post.

In the fourth minute of stoppage-time, the Tigers pulled a goal back as a corner delivery was volleyed by the Trialist. Watson pushed the strike onto the post, but Simms was on hand to poke the rebound home.
