Mount Saint Agnes Academy captured their first-ever Bermuda School Sports Federation Over 16 Six-A-Side Boys Football title following a thrilling come-from-behind win over The Berkeley Institute Green team.
A penalty shootout was needed to separate the two sides after the final ended in a 2-2 tie.
Jaden Belboda put Berkeley ahead with a fierce long-range effort, Khari Sharrieff made it 2 - 0 before the break. Sharrieff dispossessed an MSA defender on the sideline before cutting in the box and slipping the ball past the MSA goalkeeper. MSA came out a more composed side in the second half and pulled a goal back with the first of Sami Carolo’s two goals. Carolo collected the ball on the right edge of the box and kept his composure to rifle the ball in the far side of the goal. Carolo would even the score with a header over the goalkeeper thanks to a pinpoint perfect cross from Tiago Correia.
Neither team would score again in the match was to be settled by the dreaded penalty shootout.
Both teams would score four of their spot kicks which resulted in a sudden death situation. MSA goalkeeper Sa’Qui Robinson saved Berkeley’s sixth spot kick and then calmly stepped up to score his side’s sixth attempt leading him and his teammates into a celebratory frenzy.
MSA defeated Berkeley Gold in the Semi-Final. Correia scored the game’s only goal getting on the end of a precise Carolo cross. Berkeley Green defeated Somersfield Academy 3 - 0 in the other Semi-Final. Berkeley got goals from Tokia Bean, Machari Tear DeLeon, and Daion Swan Desilva.
