The Thomas College Men's Soccer team with 9 Bermudian players on their roster including Diondre Dowling, London Steede-Jackson, Mikal Simmons, Willie Clemons, MacQuille Walker, Jordan Lambe, Rai Sampson, Jordan Payne and Zeon Robinson fell to the University of Massachusetts Boston by a 3-2 score in Double Overtime at Smith Field.
The loss drops the Thomas College down to 0-1-1 in the early season while the win keeps the University of Massachusetts Boston unbeaten at 3-0.
The University of Massachusetts Boston struck first early in the first half at the 14th minute when Daniel Morales settled the ball and fired a shot past Thomas goalkeeper Joakim Sternas for a 1-0 lead.
Thomas answered back with just 33 seconds left in the first half when Dowling scored his first collegiate goal on a feed from Clemons.
Thomas looked to pull away in the second half when Clemons finished on a centering pass from DJ Nicholas for a 2-1 Thomas lead.
Just under four minutes later, UMass-Boston answered back on a goal from Ocane Williamson for a tie game at 2-2.
The game would not be settled until double overtime action as Williamson ended the game at the 102nd minute on a centering pass from Edmilson Barros for a 3-2 victory.
Sternas was given the loss in goal for the Thomas after making three saves while Omar Castro-Dreher made six saves in the win for the University of Massachusetts Boston.
