Parfitt-Williams Scores Winner in Final 1st Leg

IslandStats.com
Djair Parfitt-Williams came off the bench and scored the only Goal for West Ham United’s Development Team as they will take a 1 – 0 lead over Hull City into the Second Leg of the Barclays Under 21 Premier League Cup Final away at the KC Stadium, next Wednesday.

Parfitt Williams who has been injured made his entrance into the match in the 60th minute in front of a mightily impressive 10,267 fans at the Boleyn Ground.

With very little separating the two teams, and the match looking as if it was heading for a scoreless draw, Parfitt-Williams stepped up in the 90th minute scoring from close range after Doneil Henry flicked on the free-kick!

In what was the last U21 match ever at the Boleyn Ground, in front of an impressive audience West Ham United coach Terry Westley reflected, “It was a tough game, like any cup final would be. We didn’t expect them to roll over for us, and I thought Hull were very good.

Westley continued, “I’m delighted for Parfitt-Williams because he has worked so hard to become available for this game. He knocked on the door about a week ago and said I think I can play. But he hasn’t played for two and half months so we had to start him on the bench, so credit to him and all the staff who have helped him get back to quickly.”

Westley concluded, “The goal will be great for his confidence and we are delighted to have him back.”
