IslandStats.com
The Bermuda Football Association announced the current Premier Division Leading Goalscorer Lejaun Simmons will travel to Martinique from December 31st to January 6th to participate in the 2016 Major League Soccer Caribbean Combine.

Simmons has been a part of the National program through all age groups. He made is full senior debut at 19 playing in the Digicel Caribbean Cup against Haiti. Simmons spent two years at Ilkeston Football Club, he now plays locally for Robin Hood.

The Major League Soccer Caribbean Combine is an annual showcase of Caribbean Football talent between the ages of 18-21 organized jointly by Major League Soccer and the Caribbean Football Union in 2013, with the inaugural combine being held in January 2014.

Back on December 7th it was announced that the third consecutive MLS sponsored Caribbean Football Union Combine will be held across three countries instead of one central venue as in previous years, starting with St. Kitts from December 13-16. The other venues are Curacao (December 17-20), and Martinique (January 1-4).

Twenty-four players were invited to each venue, representing a marked increase in the number of elite players from the Caribbean who will vie to be among those selected to attend the MLS Combine from January 8th – 13th in South Florida.

St. Kitts hosted players from Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Jamaica, Montserrat, Puerto Rico, Turks and Caicos and US Virgin Islands.

Curacao host Aruba, Bahamas, Bonaire, Dominican Republic, Guyana, Haiti, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago.

Martinique will host Barbados, Dominica, French Guiana, Grenada, Guadeloupe, St. Maarten, St. Martin, St Vincent, St. Lucia and now Bermuda. Bermuda was scheduled to be included in the Curacao Group.

The combine provides opportunities for players to be observed by MLS scouts with the hopes of being invited to the MLS Combine, an invite-only showcase event held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida prior to the annual MLS SuperDraft.

Jonte Smith and Drewonde Bascome are players that have previously travelled to the combine from Bermuda.
