BSSF Six-A-Side Round Up

The Bermuda Sports Federation will hold its First Annual Six-A-Side Festival at the National Sports Center North Fields on Friday October 10th.

The festival will feature 55 school teams competing in matches across Nine Divisions in Primary, Middle and Senior School. The Senior School Round Robin portion of the tournament starts at 11:30am. The Primary Schools will start at 2:00pm, with the playoff rounds will start at 4:20pm.

MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS PRELIMINARY ROUNDS

Saltus Grammar School remain on course to win their third consecutive Middle School Girls competition. They finished the Round Robin stage undefeated with four wins and one draw. Saltus were led by LeiLanni Nesbeth who went on a goal scoring spree leading all players with eight goals. Saltus will battle Dellwood Middle School in the Semi-Final. Dellwood edged traditional Girls Football powerhouses Sandy’s Secondary Middle School and The Whitney Institute to claim the fourth and final playoff spot. Dellwood is led by a double strike force of Nia Christopher and Sh’Nya Akinstall who between them scored seven of Dellwoods eight goals. T.N.Tatem Middle School finished in second place with two wins, a draw and a loss. Kaylee Lema was instrumental in their success scoring the winner in all three of their victories. They will square off against Bermuda High School who finished equal on points with their Semi-Final opponents but finished third with an inferior goal difference. Lauren Way and Eloise Pinchin each scored twice for second placed team. Both Middle School Girls Semi-Finals will start at 5:00pm.

MIDDLE SCHOOL BOYS PRELIMINARY ROUNDS

Sandy’s Secondary Middle School squeaked into the Semi-Finals of the Under 13 Boys Middle School. Sandy’s had the daunting task of winning by four goals in their final pool match versus Mount Saint Agnes to capture the final playoff spot. Sandy’s scored three first half goals but MSA fought hard in the second half to deny Sandy’s their place in the final six. Just as it seemed as if Sandy’s were going to be denied Makal Robinson scored a late winner to send his team into the playoffs. Sandy’s then took on Whitney who finished second in pool B with the winner advancing to the Semi-Finals. Zaire Smith secured the Semi-Final berth for Sandy’s scoring the game’s only goal in a 1-0 win. Dellwood Middle School earned an automatic spot in the Semi-Finals after winning all four of their pool matches scoring five goals in the process while conceding none. Clearwater won the other Semi-Final spot after winning Pool B undefeated as well. Somersfield Academy finished third in pool B and defeated pool A runners up T.N.Tatem 3-0 in their playoff match. Somersfield got goals from Yusef Bushara, Seke Spence and Alex Withers Clark. Somersfield Academy will face Clearwater Academy in the Semi-Finals while Sandy’s will tackle Dellwood in the other Semi-Final. Both matches will start at 5:00pm.

Sandy’s will also feature in the Over 13 Boys Semi-Finals, Sandy’s squared off against Saltus in the final match Pool A with both teams level on points with two wins a piece. Sandy’s prevailed with two second half goals to win 2-0 and book their automatic place in the Semi-Finals. The loss seemed to jolt Saltus who then fell to Pool B third placed team Warwick Academy in the playoff match. Warwick got two goals from Zarion Swan in the 2-0 win. Dellwood Middle School won Pool B and will face Warwick Academy in the Semi-Finals. Sandy’s will play T.N. Tatem who received two late goals from Jenico Sealy to sneak past Mount Saint Agnes. Both Semi-Finals in the Over 13 Division will start at 5:20pm.
