The IMG Academy Under 17 Girls Soccer team that features Eva Frazzoni, Leah Smith and Victoria Davis got their 2014-15 season off to a great start.
In their first competition of the year at the Disney Showcase Qualifier in Orlando, Florida, the Under 17 team won the Under 17 Girls Black Division.
The Under 17’s competed against some of Florida's powerhouse programs, and went 3-0 in pool play, outscoring their opponents by a combined total of 12-2.
In the semifinals, the Under 17 Girls faced off against Orlando City Youth Soccer 97/98’s, the #6 ranked team in the state of Florida, and advanced to the Final after winning 2-0.
In the final, the only team standing in the Under 17’s way were the Florida Fire Juniors, ranked #4 in the state.
It would not matter, as the IMG Academy Under 17 Girls triumphed by a 2-1 marging to win their Division.
With the win, the Under 17 Girls have qualified for a spot in the Disney Showcase, to be held in December at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando.
With the school year only having begun, the U17 Girls achieved their feat with only three training sessions under their belts.
The Under 17’s are on pace to match the pace of the IMG Academy Under 18 team a season ago. Last year, the Under 18’s qualified for a place in the Disney Showcase, winning the event, before going on to complete an undefeated 27-0-3 season and ending the year as the #1 ranked Under 18 Girls Soccer Club in the Nation, according to Got Soccer.
