There will be a festival of school football this weekend at the National Sports Centre and BFA Field. Twenty three matches will be used to determine the champions in eight divisions.
Fifteen Semi-Finals will be held on Friday at the National Sports Centre North Fields and BFA Field. The finals for all eight Divisions will be held on Saturday at the National Sports Centre North Fields.
The Bermuda School Sports Federation wanted to showcase the best teams in the school leagues in one central venue during a two day festival.
The BFA has once again been extremely accommodating and there will be no youth football league matches on Saturday. Admission for both days to the festival are free for all. There will however be a $5.00 parking fee for all cars wishing to park in the stadium on Saturday.
The Semi-Finals get underway at 2:00 on Friday with four matches. Saltus will take on Dalton E. Tucker in the Primary School Girls Semi-Final. Defending champions Saltus will also take on Whitney in the Middle School Girls Semi-Final.
A New champion will be crowned in the Middle School Under 13 Division. Clearwater Middle School swept both titles last year but do not factor in the Under 13 Semi-Finals this year.
Saltus had the surprise of the Knock Out Cup after defeating previously undefeated T.N.Tatem in the Under 13 Quarter Finals. They will face league title contenders Somersfield Academy while league leaders Sandy’s will battle Whitney Institute.
The 3:30 matches will see defending champions Elliot Primary battle Purvis Primary in the other primary School Girls Final.
League Champions Sandy’s Middle School face off against BHS in a Middle School Girls showdown. League champions The Berkeley Institute will square off against CedarBridge Academy in the Under 16 Semi-Finals while Saltus and Warwick Academy will battle to earn a spot in the Final.
Both Primary School Semi-Finals will be played at 5:00pm. West Central Champions Paget Primary will play West Champions Dalton E. Tucker while East Zone Champions St. George’s Preparatory will face the winner of the Elliot Primary versus Somerset Primary Quarter-Final. The Over 13 Middle School Semi-Finals will see defending champions Clearwater Middle School take on rivals The Whitney Institute while Dellwood will tackle T.N.Tatem.
The evening will cap off at 6:00 with the Senior School Varsity Semi-Finals and the Senior School Girls Semi-Final. Warwick Academy will take on Saltus while Defending champions CedarBridge Academy will have to beat Berkeley Institute to get back in the final. CedarBridge Academy are already in the girls final and awaits Friday’s winner between Saltus and The Berkeley Institute.
