IslandStats.com
Five Bermuda riders competed in the Ricky Carmichael Amateur Supercross in Daytona, Aaron Cannonier competed in the veteran 30 B/C Class, Kai’Jun Simons competed in the College Boy’s Class, while Jazuri Thompson competed in the 125cc, and 250cc Junior Class, Jazai Thompson competed in the 85cc Limited Class, and King Clarke competed in the 7/8 Age Group 51cc Class.

Thunder and lightning storms in the area affected the race schedule, caused a delay in the event, all the participants were given 2 practice laps and then it was straight to their main events.

Cannonier had a tough race after picking a bad gate, with the track conditions Canonier crashed twice pushing him outside the top 10, as he had to settle for 13th in his main event.

With a rough start, Simons came off the gate in the back of the pack, he managed to charge through the pack in brutal conditions finishing 13th, Simons was confident that he would have finished an easy top 10 had he gotten a better start.

Jazuri Thompson in the 12cc Class got the last gate pick making it hard for him to get out front with the pack. Thompson started in 13th place in the class and was making his way up the field when a rider went down in front of him causing him to crash. Thompson was quickly back on the bike and pushed through the pack to finish 9th. In the 250cc Class, Thompson got a much better start, riding in 6th place for most of the race, however, he couldn’t hold onto the end eventually finishing 8th out of 29 riders.

Jazai Thompson took to a rough track and he struggled to get around, but he never came off the bike eventually finishing 25th.

Clarke was the youngest competitor also had a bad start, but managed to make his way into 13th place, however he got caught up in a pile up on the wall jump, he managed to keep his position after he got up fast and got going. Later in the race Clarke went down on the final lap just before the finish causing him a few position as he had trouble getting his bike up, he would cross the line in 19th.
