A total of 93 points were put on the board on the Opening night of the World Rugby Classic at the National Sports Center.
Italy 23 Canada 22
A Penalty with no time left on the clock saw Ramiro Pez connect from a distance to earn Italy with a Semi-Final spot defeating Canada 23-22.
This game saw Italy hold a lead 10 – 0, before Canada was able to crawl back and take a 19-17 lead, but Italy would kick a Penalty and with Pez connecting he made the score 20-19, a Penalty from Canada’s Derek Daypuck put Canada back in front 22-20, but Pez would have the last say.
Italy got 2 Try’s from Davide Giazzon, while Pez went over for a score as well, Pez kicked 2 Conversion and 3 Penalty’s. Canada got Try’s from John Moonlight, Daypuck and Jared Stephens, with Daypuck kicking 2 Conversions and the Penalty.
Argentina 40 France 8
The defending champions Argentina continued their winning ways at the National Sports Center with a 40 – 8 win over France.
Argentina got 4 Try’s from Gonzalo Taboada, he also added 4 Conversions. Also scoring for Argentina was Bernardo Stortoni going over twice and Mauro Comuzzi adding the other, while Julien Saubade scored a Try for France and Yannick Lafforgue kicked a Penalty.
