Toms & Bedwas Go Down Again

IslandStats.com
Brynley Toms and his Bedwas teammates are still looking for their first win of the season, but they did secure a bonus point after scoring three Try’s in the last eight minutes against Llandovery.

The home side competed well in the first half, and only really went downhill in the ten minutes that James Richards was sinbinned, but it was a different story in the second half when the Drovers stormed out of the blocks to claim a bonus point win.

Bedwas took an early lead. It was a well-worked move from kick-off culminated in Alun Rees charging through. Joseph Scrivens converted.

Llandovery were soon level. They were given too much space and Matthew Moore dived over with Jack Maynard converting.

When Richards was sinbinned, Llandovery took advantage within seconds, Shaun Miles scoring their second and Maynard quickly followed with their third, converting both.

Once Bedwas were back to a full complement of players, they started getting back into the game. With the Drovers defense standing firm, Scrivens took the correct option to kick two penalties to get a few points back on the board but Bedwas were still 21-13 down at the break.

Llandovery started the second half well and after being awarded an early penalty, Maynard extended their lead.

And they secured the winning bonus point on 56 minutes after big replacement hooker Ricky Guest battered his way through.

After that, it was all Llandovery, and it was only a sinibin offense that slowed them down. Maynard got his second try after intercepting and running 50 meters. Guest quickly followed Maynard over for his second, before Dafydd Land sprinted easily down the wing to score. Maynard kept up his 100% kicking record.

But it was a late Jordan Evans yellow card gave Bedwas an advantage for the final few minutes to give them a try bonus point.

George Gasson and Mike Dacey quickly crossed and it took a penalty on the dot of full-time to give the home side another scoring opportunity with Luke Crane diving over and Jacob Chilcott converting.
