Recently at the Warwick Academy, friends and family of the late Stephen Edwards came to play a marvelous spectacle of rugby between the Buccaneers and a Select. The event which in it’s third year celebrates the life of Edwards who passed on 12/31/2014.
There was a fantastic turnout of players this year with many of the overseas youth coming out to play and the game was played just like Edwards did, with a lot of flowing rugby, not much kicking and all out enjoyment.
The hits were hard but fair and referee Keith Hodgkins remarked on the spirit the game was played in and the talent on show.
The Buccaneers would be able to hold off a strong challenge from the Select to win 33 – 32.
The Buccaneers got Try’s from Simon Thompson, Simeon Edwards, Logan Ball and Rory Dublin, while the Select side got three Try’s from Alex Doyling and a single from Chakote Wainwright.
