America’s Gwen Jorgensen has cemented her place as one of the best triathletes of her generation, with a strong all-around performance and her killer run kick that delivered her a Gold in the triathlon event at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. After positioning herself in the lead group from the start of the event, Jorgensen broke away from Switzerland’s Nicola Spirig on the final run lap to claim the win in 1:56:16.

Bermuda’s Flora Duffy had her best ever finish in an Olympic triathlon when she crossed the line in 8th stopping the clock with a time of 1:58:25.

Duffy was 2:09 minutes behind Jorgensen, overtaking Claudia Rivas on the final lap to claim the 8th spot.

Coming out of the water, Duffy was in the lead pack, and she went to the front on the Bike during the second lap, due to the very technical course Duffy when she attempted to make a break on lap number four could not get away from the field.

Duffy was in 7th place at the end of the Bike Course, she managed to stay with a group of the chasing pack in the first two laps but that broke up with Duffy falling off the pace, but she was able to pull it back showing the fight and determination that she has to finish in that 8th place spot.

Duffy as she said in her interview following the race, it was not her day.
