Bermuda’s up and coming junior Nick Pilgrim produced another good performance finishing 24th in a field of 63 in the competitive Flatlands Triathlon in Des Moines, Iowa.
Pilgrim clocked an overall time of 34 :42, the event was won by Zach Wilson in 30:19.
The race was one of four qualifying events in the USA Triathlon’s Youth Elite Series for 13-15 year olds with qualifiers earning the right to compete in the USA Triathlon Youth draft legal championships to be hosted in West Chester, Ohio in July 30th - 31st, 2016. It therefore attracted a strong field.
In hot conditions Pilgrim was 33rd out of the water covering the 375m Swim in a time of 5:33, he then rode the 10km Draft Legal Bike course in 17:41, before finishing the 2.5k Run Course in 9:34.
Pilgrim’s result was encouraging as he was the 2nd fastest out of 13 year olds in a race series that is attracting the best 13-15 year olds in the USA.
