Butterfields Reflect on Ironman 70.3 Championships

IslandStats.com
Following their performances at the recently concluded Ironman 70.3 Championships, www.islandstats.com spoke with Tyler and Nikki Butterfield about the event.

Tyler Butterfield said, “The World Championships is always super competitive so any time I race a top 10 is a great day.”

“In 2013 I was 9th, so this year to grab 8th was better. It was a great course that was very hard, with one 13km climb in the middle of the bike. This was always going to be the hardest part of the race and decided how the rest of the race would play out,” continued Tyler Butterfield.

Tyler Butterfield went on to say, “I actually got left behind by a few competitors, however a lot of them would feel the effects of the climb later in the race, enabling me to ride back into a good position off the bike and run well.”

Tyler Butterfield concluded, “It was a good day and nice for my confidence with the Ironman World Championships in 6 weeks, however I know I still have a lot of work to do, for double the distance!”

Nikki Butterfield said, “My race was good despite making the decision to race only 10 weeks prior. It is always fun to race against the best in the world, but it shows any weakness or missed training.”

Nikki Butterfield concluded, “I impressed myself that I could ride into the top ten, before the run showed the lack of time and training missed. All and all it was a solid performance by both of us at the top level.”
