Race Day 5 in this year's Argo Re Triathlon Summer Series took place on a perfect evening at Clearwater Beach. Dry conditions, a flat sea, light wind, and cloud cover which appeared in the nick of time to take the edge off the heat.
Carol Dixon led after the Swim leg, but Ian Pilgrim then tore into on the Bike Course, but Pilgrim when he finished the Bike ride then withdrew, suffering from an eye injury.
Nick Pilgrim, had a strong Run that saw him hold off Otis Ingham to win the race. Rapidly improving Tim Palmer wasn't far behind in third.
Pilgrim clocked 26.39, with Ingham recorded a time of 26.50 and Palmer clocked 26.56.
Kim McIvor was the leading lady, not for the first time, coming back strongly from injury finishing 5th overall with a time of 27.42. Lindsey Palmer finished second Female finisher and 7th overall with a time of 29.00.
The shorter distance was a family affair. Blake Oliveira showed that older brother Matthew is not the only promising triathlete in the family, which Mum Cathie gave him a good run for his money.
