The Bermuda Professional Golf Association restarted their 2020 Tournament Schedule at the Mid Ocean Club. The Format was a Stableford Points event with teams consisting of a Junior and a Senior Pro.
This was the first golf event held since the Dark-n-Stormy World Par 3 Championship back in March.
Tournament Director, Chaka DeSilva, organized the event as well as the upcoming schedule.
“Thank you everyone who was able to come out a play today. It was a beautiful day for golf and it was really fun being back on the course. Congratulations to the winners Camiko Smith and Derrick Douglas, very well played 37 points,” said DeSilva.
Smith and Douglas got off to a hot start with Douglas holing out his second shot from 70 yards for an Eagle two for 5 points, he would then make a 15 foot putt on the second hole for another Eagle 3 for yet another 5 points. Both players made points on 17 of the 18 holes played.
Bermuda PGA president, Scott Roy said, “It was good to get together, under the physical distancing rules, and get back on the golf course and compete. I think this Covid-19 pandemic has reminded us, me especially how quickly something can change and be taken away. Getting the tournament schedule back up and running as soon as it was safe to do so was important to get players back to some sense of normalcy. Golf is a great game as it can be played safely under the Covid-19 regulations, and gets people outside and get some movement and exercise.” “Huge thank you to the team at Mid Ocean Club for hosting us today. The course was in great condition.”
