Eric Dugas collected his check for $10,000.00 after being crowned the Dark ‘n Stormy World Par 3 Championship Champion at the Turtle Hill Golf Course, which gives him an exemption into the PGA TOUR’s Bermuda Championship later this year.
American Dugas alongside fellow American Joe Horowitz started the day leading after opening rounds of 4-under-par 50’s.
After a Second and Final Round, Dugas shot a 1-over par 54 to claim the title at 3-under par, Mark Hoffman was second at Even Par, he was alongside Justin Regier at Even Par.
Jevon Roberts was the top local finisher and he claimed the Amateur Title as he carded a Second Round 59 to finish T11th at 6-over par, while Dwayne Pearman and Chris Smith were the top Bermuda Professionals finishing T16th at 7-over par. Tracy Burgess and Gary Brangman won the Women’s and Senior Men’s Amateur Divisions respectively.
He was the only player in the field to finish below par in the 36-hole championship at Turtle Hill Golf Club.
“I rolled it really well this week,” said Dugas. “I was just trying to hit it one shot at a time.”
Players experienced another day of varying weather conditions, which Maui resident Dugas admitted he was used to.
He entered the final round expecting fellow competitors to make the odd bogey and knew that avoiding a big number was key to winning the championship.
“Sometimes a good shot is hitting it to 30-feet,” noted Dugas.
