Makenzie Nelson shot an opening round 70 to lead Mitchell Campbell and his Skidmore College Golf teammates to a first round lead in the Middlebury College Duke Nelson Invitational.
Skidmore shot a first round 296 for a one stroke lead over the host school. Amherst is third with 302 and Rochester fourth with 306. There are 22 teams competing in the 36-hole event.
Nelson has a one shot lead on the field. Teddy Badenhausen is tied for fourth with 73, one stroke ahead of Gabriel Rossi in eighth. Walker Stroud is tied for 47th with 79 and Mitchell Campbell is tied for 56th with 80.
