Another Tough Day in Spain for Bermuda Optimist Sailors

Sophia Dias, Trystan Hocking, Riley Lowe, and Cody Rans were all back in action in Spain competing in the International Optimist Dinghy Association European Championships Boys and Girls fleets in the Bay of Cadiz, with the wind conditions lighter and stayed under 10 knots.

In the Girls Division, Dias fell 13 places to finish the day in 93rd, with 179 points, Dias finished the first race of the day and the third of the series in 48th, she would finish in the same position in the second race.

Lowe came off the water in the 99th place spot down 3 places with 192 points, this after she finished 49th in the first race, and then 47th in the second race.

In the Boy’s Division, Rans started the day in 133rd, but he fell five places to 138th with 168 points, he crossed the line 40th in the first race of the day, before finishing 42nd in the second race of the day.

Hocking fell one spot to 143rd, with 178 points, he finished the first race in 49th, and then finished 39th in the second race of the day.
