The fifth day of competition concluded today at the 2024 ILCA Under 21 European Championships & Open European Trophy in Majorca, Spain, organized by Reial Club Nàutic de Pollença.
The day started with a two-hour postponement onshore due to a lack of wind. Sailors including Bermuda’s Sebastian Kempe were only called to the water for their first race of the day at 13:10, with a 10-knot breeze blowing from the East.
There’s a new leader in the ILCA 7 Men’s Championship, as Italian sailor Enrico Tanferna surpassed overnight leader Ole Schweckendiek from Germany for the first time in the event. They are now only separated by two points and have similar discards 64 and 54 respectively. With 66 and 68 points, they are not far away of third and fourth-ranked sailors Lorenzo Mayer from France and Rem Pulci Magen Israel, who have 77 and 79 points respectively. Rem is also contending for the Under 19 medals, currently holding the Gold position.
