Shirley Robertson was in Bermuda yet again to film the latest edition of CNN’s Mainsail on the Great Sound which will host the America’s Cup in 2017 when some of the world’s highest paid sailors will go head-to-head in some expensive machines that fly on the water.
Robertson was getting under the bonnet of the Americas Cup with the three teams based in Bermuda in preparation for the challenge ahead.
During the programme, Robertson talks to crews who explain how technology has turned modern boat racing into an experience akin to flying an aircraft with their fixed, rigid wings instead of sails, the boats we race these days have as much in common with aeroplanes as they do with sailboats.
She is seen in one scene racing across the Great Sound in a chase boat to get a first hand look at just how the data is captured on the water.
