Six Bermuda youth sailors concluded flying the flag competing in Salinas Ecuador on Day 5 of the International Optimist Dinghy Association's (IODA) South American Championships.
Representing Bermuda among 162 sailors was Jordan Etemadi, Sebastian Kempe, Luke Madeiros, Rian McDonnell-Geraghty, Tayte Stefaniuk and Leyli Walker. They are accompanied by their Coach Pablo Weber.
On the Final Day Etemadi recorded finishes of 8th and 11th to leap up 17 spots from his starting position of 48th place to end the Regatta in 31st place with 175 points competing in the Amarillo Fleet.
Racing in the Azul Fleet, Kempe finished in 32nd place and 86th overall with 232 points, McDonnell-Geraghty concluded in 36th place and 90th overall with 244 points and Walker rounded off the Bermuda sailors in the Fleet finishing in 46th and 100th overall with 282 points.
Madeiros finished in the 5th place spot in the Rojo Fleet and 113th overall with 213 points and Stefaniuk finished in 9th and 117th overall with 231 points.
