Following her performance at the Laser Radial Women’s World Championship, organized by Oman Sail, Bermuda’s Ceci Wollmann reflected and looked ahead.
Wollmann said, “This was one of the most competitive regattas I've been in. The fleet was very strong as it was capped at 100 and you had to apply to receive a spot.”
“In the fleet there was the Gold, Silver and Bronze Medalists from the 2012 Olympics in London,” continued Wollmann.
Wollmann went on to say, “Each race was very close so every small mistake was very noticeable and costly. I've only been in the boat for a bit over a year now as opposed to most others who have been racing radials for much longer. I think I have continued to improve throughout this year and taking the year off from school has been helpful as all the other women I am competing against now are full time sailors.”
Wollmann who missed out on the opportunity to Qualify for the Olympics said, “The next opportunity for me to qualify for Rio would be in Miami in January 2016 where there are specific spots for North American countries.”
Wollmann concluded, “Coming up I plan to try out for the Red Bull Bermuda Team and compete in the ISAF Youth Worlds in Malaysia.”
