Optimist Nationals & Open Championships Round Up

The Bermuda Optimist National and Open Championships came to an end just on the outside of the Town Cut Channel in the East End.

Tayte Stefaniuk who just returned from an impressive 34th place overall finish at the World Championships last month emerged the Bermuda National Champion with 21 Net Points.

Fresh off a 2nd place finish at the Junior Gold Cup, Adam Larson finished runner up again with 27 Net Points and right on his heels was Campbell Patton who finished with 32 Net Points.

Camille Chin-Gurret finished 9th overall with 79 Net Points on her way to winning the Girls National Championship Title.

Running concurrently to the Bermuda National Championship is the Bermuda Open Championship, which has 16 sailors from overseas entered including last year’s overall champion, Jack Corbett from New Jersey.

Carmen Cowles from Larchmont Yacht Club would capture the Overall title and the Top Female sailor when she finished with 35 Net Points, with Stefaniuk finishing in second place with 39 Net points followed by defending champion Corbett with 46 points.
