MacKenzie Cooper and his No. 7 St. Mary's College of Maryland sailing team captured the Riley Cup in their season-opening weekend while posting a solid performance at the Harry H. Anderson Jr. Trophy.
St. Mary's claimed top honors at the Riley Cup, an in-conference regatta hosted by Old Dominion University, with a one-two punch as they took first- and second-place awards. The team never faltered from their hold on the top-2 spots, holding those same positions for the races.
Junior Jacob LaDow and sophomore Kaitlyn Noreen guided the first-place boat with a first-place finish in Division A while first-year Cooper and senior Nicole DeAngeli paced the second-place St. Mary’s boat with a first-place finish in Division B.
