Bermuda Swimmers Finish Strong in Canada

Evan Farrow, Jack Harvey, Jude Moseley, Brett Smith and Zebedee Wakely all competed on the final day of competition at the MAC April Invitational in Canada.

The 13 and Over Boys 200 IM was the first event where Moseley touched the wall in a Personal Best time of 2:40.20 and Wakely touch the wall in a Personal Best time of 2:44.82.

The Boys 15 and Over Age Group 100 Freestyle was up next where Farrow swam a huge Personal Best of 57.19, only two tenths of a second outside of a CISC Qualifying Time, which qualified him for a B Final. The 14 Year Old Boys were next with Wakely touching the wall with another Personal Best time of 1:01.9, his second AA time of the meet, which brings him closer to CISC Qualification.

Moseley was next up breaking the 1:00 barrier and achieving his second CISC Qualification Time and a Personal Best time of 59.42, which advanced him to the A Final. Smith was the final swimmer in the 14 Year Old Boys 100 Freestyle where he swam a Personal Best of 1:00.48, advancing to the B Final.

The final race of the session was the Boys 15 and Over Age Group 200 Backstroke where Farrow swam a Personal Best of 2:26.00, advancing him to the B Final, while Smith swam a 2:26.84, advancing him to the A Final.

The next session brought Harvey back to the pool again where he swam a Personal Best time of 1:06.34 in the Boys 12 Year Old 100 Freestyle, placing him 7th overall. He then went on to capture the Silver Medal in the Boys 200 Backstroke in a time of 2:36.

The other Finals in the session brought on more excitement in the 100 Freestyle when Mosely placed 7th in the Boys A Final where he lowered his time even further from the morning prelims, touching the wall in 59.03. Smith was 4th in the B Final swimming a Personal Best of 59.88. Farrow touched the wall in 57.68, finishing 8th in the B Final. The boys 200 Backstroke was the final event of the competition and Smith took another Silver Medal, swimming a Personal Best time of 2:23.96, while Farrow finished fifth in the B Final in a time of 2:26.14.

Coach, Shona Palmer stated upon conclusion of the meet, “I am so proud with the boys’ results. They have trained really hard over the last few months and the times they swam through the weekend show that. Personal Best times were achieved by each of the boys in almost every event they swam. I am really excited to see what the next few months will bring for these boys.”
