The Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sport hosted a Meet and Greet with the Howard University Swim and Dive Team to culminate the week-long stay by the 60-member team along with ten coaches.

“On behalf of the Government, I extend gratitude to Howard University for choosing Bermuda again as their training ground and connecting with our Bermuda Public School students," said Senator Owen Darrell, Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Sport.

"I want to thank Myeisha Sharrieff, a Bermudian member of the Howard University Swim and Dive Team, and several Bermudian alumni who hosted a dinner, building connections and creating lasting memories for all."

Between December 29th, 2023, and January 6th, 2024, the National Sports Center swimming pool served as a training ground for the visiting team. While on the island, they visited the West Pembroke Primary School, Whitney Institute Middle School, Harrington Sound Primary School, the Berkeley Institute and Cedarbridge Academy.

The Minister of Education, the Hon. Diallo Rabain, shared, "The Howard University Swim and Dive Team's visit has been an invaluable experience for our Bermuda Public School students. Witnessing such a dedicated and accomplished team, especially as the only all-black collegiate swimming and diving team in the United States, sends a powerful message of representation and excellence. We thank Howard University for inspiring our students and showcasing the possibilities within aquatic sports."

The Director of the Department of Sport and Recreation, Ms. Kimberley Charryse Bean, shared, "The Howard University Swim and Dive Team's visit has been a testament to the power of sports in fostering camaraderie and skill development. Witnessing their passion and discipline at the National Sports Centre has been motivating. We hope their time in Bermuda has contributed to their athletic growth and left a lasting impression on our island's sporting community."
