The team is comprised of Brett Smith, Emma Harvey, Madelyn Moore and Jesse Washington.
For Smith, this will be his debut, Harvey and Moore will mark their second appearance, whilst this is Washington’s third time attending this event.
The Canadian Age Group Championships attracts the top Age Group Swimmers, aged 12 through 18, from all over Canada, in addition to some overseas swimmers.
Usually, over 900 swimmers attend this meet, which has five days of pool competition, plus an open water event. The entry standards required to qualify for this meet are steep, ensure a very high caliber of swimmer and are continually rising.
Smith will be swimming the 50, 100 and 200 Backstrokes and the 200 Individual Medley, while Harvey will be swimming the 50 and 100 in Butterfly, Backstroke and Freestyle plus the 200 Individual Medley. Moore will be competing in the 50 and 100 in Backstroke and Freestyle as well as the 50 Butterfly and 200 Backstroke and Washington will contest the 50 and 100 Butterfly and Freestyle, along with the 200 Freestyle.
The team will travel to Quebec tomorrow for two days of acclimatization prior to the start of the meet.
“The swimmers are ready for this level of competition, after three intense weeks of training to bring them to the peak of conditioning”, said coach Richard Goodwin. “We always look forward to a meet of this caliber to finish the season and I am expecting some good results from our swimmers.”
