The XXIX Central American and Caribbean Swimming Championships got underway in Barbados at the Aquatic Center, Wildey with seven of the eight Bermuda Swimmers hitting the Pool.
Madelyn Moore captured Bermuda’s first Medal of the Championships when she won the Silver Medal during the 13-14 Women 100 LC Meter Backstroke Final with a Personal Best time of 1:07.03.
She then broke the 13-14 Women 50 LC Meter Freestyle CCCAN record on her way to winning Gold touching the wall in a Personal Best time of 26.65.
Several Personal Best times were swum during the Preliminaries even though there were high winds and inclement weather.
The highlights for the morning came from Madelyn Moore with her 4th place in the 13-14 Women’s 100 LC Meter Backstroke with a time of 1:09.78, she then won the 13-14 Women’s 50 LC Meter Freestyle touching the wall in a time of 26.99.
Moore’s 13-14 Women’s 50 LC Meter Freestyle swim came within a tenth of the CCCAN record and that will be part of her focus for the final.
Also reaching Finals were Evan Farrow who will compete in the 13-14 Men’s 1500 LC Meter Freestyle and Keagan Woolley in the 11-12 Men’s 200 LC Meter Breaststroke.
