Rebecca Heyliger broke the 50m Freestyle National Record in the Validus Bermuda Long Course National Championships at the National Sports Center.
Heyliger, touched the wall in a time of 26.58, breaking the record set be Madelyn Moore of 26.81 set on April 25th, 2014 during the XXIX Carifta Swimming Championships in Aruba.
Heyliger’s time moved her to within 0.39 seconds of the Olympic 'B' standard for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Heyliger’s performance now has BASA Officials considering her for the FINA World Championships in Kazan, Russia.
Speaking to Islandstats.com Heyliger said, "I am going to go full time, i am get a part-time job in the bachelor field, but i am joining the Pro Team alongside Julian Fletcher at USC and will be looking to improve."
