Ashley Yearwood and her Denison University Women’s Swimming teammates put the finishing touches on the 2014 NCAA Championship by ending the four-day competition with a fourth-place National finish with 374 points.
That marks eight consecutive top-5 finishes at the national championship for Denison. It is also the 28th straight year that a Denison Women's Swimming & Diving squad has finished in the top-7 in the National Standings.
Yearwood finished 22nd in the Women’s 50 Yard Freestyle touching the wall in a time of 23.76, she then finished 17th in the Women’s 100 Yard Backstroke clocking 56.79. Her final individual event saw Yearwood finish 23rd in the Women’s 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 52.08.
The Women’s 400m Freestyle Relay team of Yearwood, Carolyn Kane, Mary Van Leuven, and Morgan Nuess closed out the championship with a fourth-place finish and a time of 3:25.41. Denison entered the race trailing third-place Johns Hopkins by only 2.5 points, but a victory by Johns Hopkins in the 400m Freestyle Relay would keep Denison University in fourth-place in the overall standings.
