Rebecca Heyliger a grad student at the University of Southern California, gave youngsters taking part in the Bermuda Amateur Swimming Association’s Christmas camp a talk about balancing School Work and Swimming.
Some of Bermuda’s top future prospects are preparing for exams and according to National Coach Ben Smith, “These kids need to hear from someone who they could relate to and Rebecca Heyliger is still living with the challenge of school work as she works on his Masters Degree and is still swimming with a Division 1 School in USC.”
“I want to first tell you that you have to surround yourself with positive people,” said Heyliger. “It is OK to miss that sleep over, or that party if it is going to mean you miss training or a class, utilize your time wisely you will have plenty of time to have fun.”
“Swimming and education has afforded me the opportunity to visit many places around the world and it was all down to discipline, I knew what was required and I made sure I stayed focus on the task,” said Heyliger.
