Daniel Phillips began competing in the J60 San Jose Tennis Tournament in Costa Rica. Philips would take to the court for Singles and Doubles.
Phillips ranked number one took on Keaton Hance in his opening-round Singles match, and needed three sets to advance.
Playing on Court 5, Phillips won the first set 7 – 5, but Keaton would level the match at 1 – 1 winning the second set 7 – 6, but Phillips would then close out the match winning the third set 6-4.
Phillips and his partner Luis Carvalho from Brazil are the number one Doubles seeds, they took on American pair Meethre Barot, and Hance.
Phillips and Carvalho advanced to the next round with a straight sets 7-5, 6-2 victory.
