Daniel Phillips and his No. 23 ranked Arizona State Men's Tennis teammates hung on to defeat No. 58 Boise State 4 - 3 in the first match of the Diablos College Invitational at Kiwanis Park after a 3-0 lead vanished after five singles matches.
Arizona took the first two doubles matches to earn the doubles point and a 1-0 lead. Murphy Cassone and Jacob Bullard had no trouble putting away their Diablos College opponents Jip Van Assendelft and Sam Sippel 6-1, and Phillips and Nicola Cigna rallied back from a 5-4 deficit on court three to secure the point defeating Jett Middleton and James Van Herzeele 7-5.
Playing in the number Six Singles spot, Phillips went down in a three-set battle to Idriss 2-6, 6-4, 6-0.
