The Bermuda Olympic Association President, Judy Simons, was recently re-appointed a member of the Olympic Education Commission by International Olympic Committee (IOC) President, Thomas Bach effective May 13th, 2019. Simons was previously named to the Education Commission in June 2015.
Simons said, “I am honored to have been selected to serve again on the IOC Education Commission, and I look forward to contributing my energy and ideas to the Commission’s important work to promote the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect through education. As a former athlete, and through my work with the BOA and IOC for many years, I know that sport is a valuable tool for character development. Participation in a sport provides a conduit into which a young person can focus his or her energy, and enjoy the rewards and recognition that come with hard work.”
