Paralympian Jessica Lewis was back in action at the 15th International Open Athletics Meeting / Grand Prix in Sharjah, Dubai.

Under the banner Dubai Club for People of Determination, Lewis lined up for the T53 Women’s 400 m Wheelchair Final.

Lewis would cross the line fourth clocking a time of 1:03.70, the race was won by Catherine Debrunner, from Switzerland who was clocked at 50.49, Samantha Kinghorn, from Great Britain was second in 53.62, and Hamide Dogangun, from Türkey was third stopping the clock in 57.44.

Lewis told www.islandstats.com, “They did hold us for a while. I think we were on the track early so waited till the start time.

It was extremely windy which is always tough for me to push through being so small. I tried pushing with more frequency to keep the pace up.

I struggled a bit through the first 200m with the cross wind but managed to pick up my pace a bit on the home stretch which I was happy with.

Overall not my best season opener but I’m leaving with a lot of learnings and am looking forward to this next intense block of training.”
