A day after stunning a sold-out Fairmont Southampton Poinciana Room by knocking Bermuda’s Nikki Bascome out, Fabio Costa and the rest of his teammates and officials departed Bermuda.
The group did a tour around Bermuda before departing and www.islandstats.com had the opportunity in passing to have a chat with Costa before he made his way to the Airport.
We asked Costa if he would be willing to give Bascome another shot if he requested one, although Costa speaks very little English h replied “Yes I will, if he wants a rematch I will agree.”
Through an interpreter, Costa said, “Bascome is a very good fighter and was giving me trouble when he was not mixing it up with me, he is fast and very technically sound, but when we mixed it up I was able to get in some shots.”
www.islandstats.com also had the chance to see Andre Lamb in travels today and spoke with him as well.
Lambs fight against Jorge Guedes was stopped, Guedes had a cut above the right eye and the referee after consulting with a doctor decided that the fighter could not continue.
Lamb said, “I know we clashed heads but I also had hit him with some clean shots as well, I had not even used all my power and I know he was sensing it.”
www.islandstats.com also saw Basome in travels today, Bascome was upbeat, although disappointed with the outcome, he said he will just take sometime to reflect, which is why we decided not to interview Bascome opting to give him the time needed.
