Youth Commonwealth Spotlight - Kaden Hopkins

www.islandstats.com will be running a feature on the athletes selected to represent Bermuda during the upcoming Youth Commonwealth Games, today we continue with Cyclist Kaden Hopkins.

Name: Kaden Hopkins

Date of Birth: March 24th, 2000

Sport: Cycling

Q. What is something many people don’t know about you?

A.
I love racing bikes, but one of my main interests is working on motorbikes and learning mechanics too.

Q. How did you first get involved in your Sport?

A.
When I was 13 years old, I went to watch a Fat Tire Massive Mountain Bike race and it immediately caught my attention.

Q. Did you have a particular Sports idol?

A.
One of my favorite athletes is Josh Bryceland, downhill mountain biker, because he is a world class athlete but also has a lot of fun doing it.

Q. When did you realize that you wanted Compete Internationally?

A.
When the opportunity to compete at the Caribbean National Championships became available to me, I decided I wanted to focus solely on achieving that goal.

Q. What do you feel needs the most improvement?

A.
I am always looking for improvement in every aspect of my cycling performance.

Q. Which do you feel needs the least improvement?

A.
My dedication, attitude and work ethic towards achieving my goals.

Q. What one moment in your Sport to date are you most proud of?

A.
Last year, when I became the Caribbean Time Trial Champion in St. Lucia.

Q. What are your goals for the rest of Year?

A.
To perform to the best of my ability in every event that I do, whether it be local races or representing my country.

Q. Can you give an insight into an average week of training for you?

A.
I normally train 6 times a week totaling , twice a week I do interval training, twice a week I tend to do more endurance/hard rides, once a week a recovery ride and the finally ride is more of a tempo ride.

Q. Is this your first Youth Commonwealth Games?

A.
Yes.

Q. What do you do when you’re not taking part in your Sport?

A.
Spend time with my girlfriend, family, and friends.
