US Player Mia Fishel scored 33 goals with Mexico’s UANL Tigres to receive the Award of International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) Women’s World Best National Top Division Goalscorer 2022.
Fishel joined the Tigers beginning 2022 and realized a fantastic year to win the Award. Second place for Fenna Kalma, Netherlands newcomer (31), and Veronica Charlyn Corral, one of the 8 Mexican girls in the Top 43 finished 3rd with 29 goals.
Fishel said, “To be the best was something that I always wanted as a kid, and continue to seek it in my professional career. I’m so grateful to be announced as the #1 top goalscorer in the world in 2022.
A lot of what happened this year goes back to my 3 words about Big Fishel Energy. Strength. Confidence. Empowerment. This year has not been close to easy, but I found strength in my family, friends, and teammates to get me through. The confidence came from practicing, playing, and getting used to the style of play in Mexico. Finally, the responsibility to grow as a player on the field and the passionate fans of Tigres empowered me to never settle. 2022 was all about never settling, and it led me to being the top goalscorer in the world. Excited for what’s to come because I will never settle.”
