Sacramento Advising Fans What Lewis Brings to the Club

IslandStats.com
The Sacramento Republic can’t wait for Zeiko Lewis to get started as he is billed as one of USL’s top distributors in 2021.

In a tough Atlantic Division last season, Lewis was one of the league’s premier chance-creators. Few provided their team more chances to score than he did – 59 to be exact, good for seventh league-wide, and he was one of just four players in the USL Championship to tally double-digit assists, trailing only Hartford Athletic’s Danny Barrera, Louisville City’s Brian Ownby, and Phoenix Rising’s Aodhan Quinn.

Before Lewis takes the field for Republic FC, get fans are asked to get familiar with some of his best work from last season.

Taking on New York Red Bulls II in September, Lewis was the man on the ball for a set piece in the attacking third. Rather than test his luck on goal, he whipped in a perfect cross from the left, allowing his teammate a step on opposing defenders for a header into the back of the net.

Featuring for the Bermuda National Team in World Cup Qualifying last March, the midfielder beat a defender to a through ball that brought him into the box. However, without an angle on goal, Lewis served it back inside on the floor, just barely out of the reach of two opposing defenders – resulting in a score negated only by an offside flag.

After taking possession of a ball over the top, Lewis realized his chances were slim in a one-on-one duel. After surveying the field, he sent the ball left for his winger crashing the penalty area, who converted for an easy goal after Lewis pulled the backline away from where the ball ended up.
