The first of the five events for Bermuda Bicycle Association’s (BBA) Novice Women’s Division was held in conjunction with the Tokio Crit with14 brave souls took to the start line.
As www.islandstats.com reported Midfits riders finished first, second and third in the Women’s Novice Division, Louise Wells clocked 11:22.9, with Cora Lee Starzomski finishing second in 11:25.5 and Francis Betts finished third in 12:03.2.
The effort to host the Novice Women’s Division is to increase the interest and presence of women in cycling consists of five (5) races; 3 Crits and 2 Road Races on the following dates:
April 10th - Crit May 1st - Road Race May 15th - Crit May 29th - Road Race June 5th – Crit
Each Crit will be 20 minutes plus a lap and the Road Races will be approximately half of the Open Women’s distance, depending on the course.
Participants must be BBA members and this can be done online for annual membership ($30) or a single event license for $10.
A Novice Women is described as a female who has not competed in any National Championship races or Presidents Cup races and who has not competed in more than 3 BBA sanctioned races during that race season.
