The Bermuda Bicycle Association (BBA) is entitled to an Annual Grant from the UCI (Union Cycliste International) equal to about $1,500 which is to be used for a Developmental Program.
BBA President Peter Dunne said, “In prior years we have directed these funds to purchasing bikes for school programs. This year we have had the funds given to Keith Simmons’ Devonshire Community Trust which operates the Loyal Hill Park and is rebuilding the BMX Track.”
Dunne went on to say, “Simmons is a fantastic Community Organizer who is reestablishing this facility for the neighborhood and all of Bermuda. The BBA is delighted to be a part of this project and we, like Simmons, would like to see the sport of BMX Cycling take hold and eventually become a competitive activity in Bermuda.”
Dunne concluded, “As an Olympic Sport, this is an opportunity for international representation and competition at the highest level for those who pursue this Cycling Discipline.”
