The opening races of the Bermuda Bicycle Association’s 2013 Flying Colors Mountain Bike Race Series took place at the Arboretum.
Conditions were perfect with plenty of sun, cool temperatures and a light breeze. The track in the park is quite fast with smooth rolling paths and flowing downhill runs offering the fitter but less technical racers a great chance to jump ahead on points. Many spectators dotted the course offering encouragement.
Dominic Mahyo stormed to victory in the Male A Division, with Neil De St Croix finishing second just able to hold off Chequan Richardson who finished in third. Sarah Bonnett won the Female A Division.
The Male B Division race was won by Robin Horsefield, with Matthew Olivera finishing in second and Daron Dowling finished in third. Gabriella Arnold won the Female A Division race.
Hans Hirschi rode to victory in the Male Veteran Division, while Charles Stewart finished second and Paulo Madieros finished in third. Julia Hawley won the Female Veteran Division, with Karen Smith finishing second and Wenda Roberts was third.
In the Male Novice Division crossing the line first was Timothy Miller, finishing second was Roan Jones and Timothy Sousa finished third. Deanna Didyk won the Female Novice Divisin while April Galda-Joice rode to a second place finish and Joanne Madieros finished third.
Tyler Smith won the Junior Male 13-15 Age Group Division, with second place going to Shomari Steede and finishing third was Dylan Hill. In the Junior Female 13-15 Age Group Division Victoria Davis finished first, second place went to Tristan Narraway and Jesse Godfrey finished third.
Malik Joell won the Junior Male 12 and Under Division, while Adrian McPhee finished in second and Manning Smith finished third, while the Junior Female 12 and Under Division winner was Kayla Raymond and Megan Hands finished second.
