Caitlyn Bobb, Keturah Bulford-Trott, Za’Kayza Parson and their UMBC Women's Indoor Track and Field teammates participated in the second of three consecutive meets held in State College this winter to continue an indoor season against top regional competition. UMBC faced some of the top squads on the east coast in the Penn State Nationals.
Junior Bobb shined against the stiff 400m competition, crossing the line in second place with a time of 54.08. She held a lead at the 200m mark, but was edged by Penn State's Zoey Goldstein who clocked 53.78. Bobb defeated runners from Pitt and UNC and her mark is now tops in America East in the 2023-24 campaign.
The Women's 4x400m relay squad of Leanne McDonald, Genelle Stephens, Shannel Sibblies, and Bobb was edged by only Villanova, but defeated heavyweights UNC, UVA and WVU with a time of 3:44.07. The time is less than 0.5 seconds off a school record and ranks No. 1 in the America East Conference this season.
Junior Bulford-Trott posted a new personal best of 9.46 in the 60m hurdles finishing 25th overall.
Parsons clocked a time of 7.84 in the Women’s 60m Dash to finish 29th.
With a leap of 5.36m, Parsons finished 13th competing in the Women’s Long Jump.
