Dudley Eve Final & Masters Knockout Round Up

IslandStats.com
PHC Zebras are the 2015/16 Dudley Eve Champions

Robin Hood 0 PHC Zebras 2

Celebrations were expected to go well into the night as the PHC Zebras drew level with the North Village Rams on Seven Titles in the competition after capturing the Dudley Eve Trophy at the Wellington Oval.

The match started with Robin Hood having the wind at their back, they pinned the PHC Zebras deep in their half for a long period of time early, something PHC Zebras coach Mark Wade said, “Most of it was due to nerves and bad decision making, but once we settled down things seemed to balance out.”

Robin Hood enjoyed some early dominance with Tre Dill creating a few chances alongside Antwan Russell and LeJuan Simmons.

With the game scoreless and four minutes remaining in the first half Robin Hood would go down to ten-men when Russell was shown a straight red card for an off the ball incident.

Russell was seen making contact with a PHC Zebras defender resulting in the linesman informing the referee Anthony Bailey of what he saw, with Bailey showing Russell the red card, without any argument Russell walked off the field.

Robin Hood was able to make it to the half time interval still at 0 – 0.

Robin Hood coach Kyle Lightbourne looked to calm his troops with 45 minutes to play and it all seemed to be going to plan five minutes into the second half only to see a golden opportunity go by the waste side, PHC Zebras’ man advantage eventually started to take it’s toil on the Robin Hood players as Cecoy Robinson and Shakir Smith got more and more into the game.

The game winning goal came in the 78th minute when substitute Mazhye Burchall got a pass from Robinson and cut inside unleashing a right footed shot that beat Robin Hood goalkeeper Jason Simons to his left.

Five minutes later it was 2 – 0 to the PHC Zebras when Smith played a give and go before calmly scoring sending the PHC Zebras fans wild.

MASTERS KNOCKOUT

St. George’s Stallions 1 (3) Southampton Rangers 1 (1)

These two Masters teams continue to have battles in the Knockout Competition and today was no different.

Sheridan Ming gave the Southampton Rangers the lead in the first half from a direct corner.

With the pace of the game moving extremely slow it looked as if the Southampton Rangers would see off the defending Masters Knockout Champions, but with just 15 minutes remaining the game would change when Janeiro and Kwame Tucker were both sent off for the Southampton Rangers midway in their half. From the resulting free kick Karl Roberts would be on hand to slam the equalizer.

Neither team was able to find the back of the net in regulation time resulting in kicks from the penalty mark.
