League leaders Spare Change extended their advantage at the summit of the Mixed Majors Bowling League after a comprehensive 18-2 victory over the Movers "N" Shakers at Warwick Lanes.
The pace-setters showed no mercy against their ninth-placed opponents, delivering a clinical performance that leaves the Shakers rooted in the bottom half of the standings. The result provides Spare Change with a significant boost as they look to pull away from the chasing pack in the mid-winter stretch of the 2026 season.
The night’s scheduled heavyweight clash between second-placed Fight Back and seventh-placed Mix Ups was postponed, creating a backlog in the fixtures that could prove pivotal as the title race intensifies. The delay offers a temporary reprieve for Fight Back, but leaves them with games in hand to navigate if they are to reel in the leaders.
Elsewhere in the top five, third-placed Unpredictable capitalised on the leaders' momentum by brushing aside the Warriors with a 15-5 win. The Warriors, currently sitting in fifth, struggled to find their rhythm against an Unpredictable side that has become increasingly efficient at punishing mid-table opposition.
The most emphatic result of the evening outside the top spot came from the fourth-placed Thunderbolts, who dismantled the Activators 17.5-2.5. The Activators, hovering in sixth place, were unable to counter the high-scoring consistency of the Thunderbolts, who now strengthen their grip on a top-four position.
With the season entering a crucial phase, the focus shifts to whether the Movers "N" Shakers can find a spark to move clear of the drop zone, and how the leading sides will manage a growing list of postponed fixtures.
