The Bermuda Amateur Swimming Association (BASA) has confirmed its updated list of national short course relay records as of January 2026, showcasing a blend of contemporary speed and long-standing legacy marks.
These times, recorded in 25-metre pools, represent the pinnacle of collective achievement for Bermudian club and national teams over the decades.
The men’s record board remains heavily influenced by the historic 2003 Island Games, where a powerhouse quartet of Ronald Cowen, Graham Smith, Michael O'Connor, and Roy-Allan Burch set three of the currently standing open marks.
Their 4x50m freestyle relay time of 1:36.88 and their 4x50m medley relay finish of 1:48.17 have both survived over two decades of challenges. The same group also holds the 4x100m medley relay record with a time of 3:57.97.
In the long course 4x100M freestyle relay, a 1992 performance from Ian Raynor, Michael Cash, Craig Morbey, and Geri Mewett still is the longest standing relay record at 3:31.17 at the 1992 Summer Olympics.
More recently, the 2022 contingent of Finn Moseley, Brandon Adkins, Elijah Daley, and Sam Williamson established a new benchmark in the 4x200m freestyle relay, stopping the clock at 8:07.69.
While individual records have seen a relentless overhaul in recent years by global stars such as Emma Harvey and Madelyn Moore, the women's relay categories are still defined by legacy performances.
The 4x100m freestyle mark of 4:02.13, set in 2009 by Kiera Aitken, Ashley Yearwood, Rebecca Sharpe, and Eleanor Gardner, remains the gold standard.
Similarly, the 4x100m medley relay record of 4:30.82 has stood since 2011. That performance featured Aitken, Sharpe, and Yearwood alongside breaststroke specialist Lisa Blackburn.
Bermuda has become increasingly competitive in mixed relay events, largely fueled by success at the CARIFTA Swimming Championships. The national mixed 4x50m freestyle record of 1:44.24 was established in April 2022, while the mixed 4x50m medley mark was lowered to 1:56.24 in April 2023.
In the youth ranks, several age-group records have proven remarkably resilient. The male 8 and under 4x25m freestyle record of 1:30.20, set by Jack Thorpe, Finn Moseley, Matthew Nagel, and Jack Harvey, continues to stand. In the 13-14 category, the 4x50m medley relay record of 2:12.65, held by Brett Smith, Jude Moseley, Zebedee Wakely, and Evan Farrow, remains the time to beat for the island's emerging talent.
