Jenaya Wade-Fray and her Standard Life Great Britain Senior Women's Basketball teammates are currently in their 2012 preparation camp at Surrey Sports Park with the squad cut to 16 players today.
The initial squad of 18 was selected to train, but today Sarah McKay who fought back from injury to be included in the initial roster announced earlier this year has left camp along with NCAA player, Kristina Collins who impressed the coaches from her club season to make her senior debut at camp this year.
The team's preparation camp has been going well since the team of 18 players gathered together for the first time this year on 5 May 2012. Places in this year's squad have been more competitive than ever with the ultimate prize of competing at a home Olympic Games up for grabs.
The initial roster saw a host of young talent shining through and Temi Fagbenle continues to impress head coach Tom Maher and staff with her progress in camp. It has been a challenging initial two weeks in camp for the women's team but the experience of familiar faces including Jo Leedham and Kim Butler is helping the younger team members thrive and progress.
The 16 players including Wade-Fray continue at training camp now look towards their first test matches in Croatia on May 28th and 29th before heading to Belgium to play in a four-team tournament from June 1st – 3rd with Germany, Ukraine and Belgium.
The squad will then return to the UK to play their first domestic game on June 9th and 10th in Edinburgh against Canada. All 16 players will now be looking to impress head coach Maher before the final 12 selection is made in June.
